Victoria Meola
Ph.D. Student, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Yale University
B. Eng. Chemical Engineering, McGill University, 2023
Victoria is a first year Ph.D. student co-advised by Professor Menachem Elimelech and Professor Mingjiang Zhong in the department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering.
Victoria completed her Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering at McGill University in Montréal, Canada. Her passion for environmental sustainability was sparked during her undergraduate research positions in Dr. Nathalie Tufenkji’s lab, where she analyzed the impacts of microplastics and nanoplastics on the activity of Drosophila melanogaster, and Dr. Pierre-Luc Girard-Lauriault’s lab, where she studied plasma activated water purification. Additionally, she was fascinated by material synthesis in Dr. Milan Marić’s lab, where she synthesized and characterized bio-based cross-linked polymer coatings. Now at Yale, she will combine her excitement for both environmental sustainability and polymers to synthesize and analyze ion-selective polymeric membranes.
Outside of the lab, Victoria enjoys swimming, hiking, reading literary and historical fiction novels, and tap dancing.
