Ruoyu (Roy) joined Dr. Menachem Elimelech’s group in the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering at Yale University as a postdoctoral associate in October 2023. Here he will continue his research in membrane-based ion-ion separation processes.

Before this, Ruoyu earned his Ph.D. degree in Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 2023. During his Ph.D., he worked on diverse topics from thermodynamic analysis to membrane transport modeling. His Ph.D. dissertation, advised by Dr. Shihong Lin, was about understanding membrane-based ion separations like nanofiltration and electrodialysis with a specific focus on lithium extraction from brines. Outside of research, Ruoyu enjoys playing basketball, watching sports and movies.
